Birthday Party For DH

Today we celebrated DH's birthday at Mom's. I have quite a few photos for the day, so I will try to just give a short description. We had a lovely day and lots of fun with the grand babies.

Same breakfast as yesterday, slightly more caffeine.

The birthday boy with a couple of his presents (sunglasses and yes, that is a ballerina Barbie, which Lexi quickly confiscated).

The Menu

Pepperoni Pizza

Wisconsin 6 Cheese

Pacific Veggie

Bake Pasta???

Parmesan Bread Bites

Salad with fresh veggies

I had salad and ranch dressing with a slice of the Pacific veggie, actually 2 slices, I went back for a seconds.

Mom got a chocolate peanut butter cake for the candle blowing event.

DH had lots of help with the candles.

....and the cake. I got a few shots of the kids enjoying dessert.

Lexi had a private redo of the candle blowing, her favorite part.

Here is the cake that I made. In DH's favorite form, a strawberry dump cake, which is layers of strawberry jello, fresh strawberries, vanilla pudding, cool whip and, of course, yellow cake.

It's not the most beautiful thing, but it sure is tasty. I had a little of it myself and a bite of the chocolate peanut butter cake, just to taste. It was pretty good also.

I was so full after the pizza and dessert. I didn't think I'd be interested in dinner, but I did eat a bowl of canned chili beans with some barbecued potato chips later.

Yummy!!!

I also ate a couple of handfuls of raisins, which I really didn't need. That's it's for the day. It was nice, but I'm all partied out and ready for bed. Have a great night/day!!!

Pizza Buddy Pizza Dough Review

Yesterday for breakfast I made a quick to-go cup of half caf coffee and I had one of Lynda's cinnamon rolls. I ate the cinnamon roll before leaving to go to Lindsay's. I topped off my big mug and was out the door.

I took the last of my Garden Pasta Salad with Cream Dill Dressing for lunch. Lexi helped me eat it, but she picked out the cucumber and onion. She was hoping it had chunks of cheese in it.

Lindsay got me a mini moon pie from the vending machine at the barn. It may be mini, but it still has 110 calories. I suppose that's still better than most of my snacks. I also had a snack bag of microwave popcorn.

I ate my leftover salad when I got home.......

....and my piece of Marie Calendar's Chocolate Cream Pie. It barely survived the trip home. It doesn't look great, but it tasted really good and I'm sure it still had way more than 110 calories. I loved the chocolate cookie crust.

I didn't feel like I'd eaten that much all day, but looking back at all I'd eaten, it certainly seems like a lot. I finally got around to making the pizza I'd planned to make Saturday. We'd gotten Pizza Buddy Pizza Dough from Walmart near the deli where they have their pizzas.

We made an Alfredo Pesto Half Spinach Pizza. The dough came out of the bag easily. I punched it down to remove most of the air bubbles. I pressed it out to fit my large pizza pan perfectly, then pricked it all over with a fork to make sure there where no large bubbles. I spread Pesto sauce (also from Walmart deli) over the crust. A little goes a long way. Then we topped the Pesto with Alfredo sauce. I just dolloped it out in spoon fulls over the Pesto and gave the pan a little jiggle to spread it out evenly so not to disturb the Pesto. I sprinkled an Italian blend of shredded cheese over the sauce, totally forgetting about my spinach until the last minute. I put a little on top anyway. I probably would have added more otherwise. I only added spinach to one side so that Lucas could have a piece.

The pizza turned out very good. I ate 2 pieces and was very full, but it was so good I still wanted more. I will be making this again soon. Lucas also used another bag of dough for a Bacon Cheeseburger Roll-Up. I could see a vegetarian version of this using crumbles. I was very impressed with the dough. I loved that it cost less than a dollar a bag and that it wasn't any trouble to work with. I'm giving it 5 stars, but I do wish they would have had the whole wheat version available.

I tried to stay up and do this post last night, but I was way too tired. I just can't get started on it as early as I need to. My schedule is so off  lately. Guess I better get started with my day before it's over. Have a good one!!!

Utz Red Hot Potato Chips Review

Well this looks like it may be sort of a rushed post. I've stayed up way too late and haven't gotten what I needed to do done. My internet has been giving me problems and keeping me from uploading photos, etc.  Blah, blah, blah, back to the beginning.

The day began with breakfast as always. I had another fruit and yogurt cereal bowl. I started with bran flakes, Life cereal, and Cheerios. I used Dannon vanilla yogurt, and fresh strawberries and I drizzled it all with warm peanut butter.

I like the way the peanut butter looks and I love the way it tastes. It was an yummy breakfast.

For lunch I had the last of my Parmesan Broccoli soup.

This bowl was a little soupier than the last, exactly how I like it.

Lucas and I got some Polvorones, which are orange flavored shortbread cookies from Walmart the other day, in the section where they have the Mexican foods. They have all these yummy looking cookies and cakes.

We decided to try some. These were very good. The orange flavor is kind of subtle and reminds me of orange sherbet, so it's probably safe to say, it's not flavored with real orange. The cookie is pretty thick compared to a lot of cookies you buy, which we liked. They would be very good with coffee, milk, or cocoa. They aren't a soft cookie, so they would be great for dunking. I really like shortbread cookies, so I would give these 4 stars. I limited myself to just one, but I could have easily eaten more.

Later I had an awesome spicy snack. I was really craving more sweets, but decided to go with a spicy snack plus half an apple to satisfy the sweetness I was craving. I had a bag of Utz Red Hot potato chips, a slice of pepper jack cheese cut into fourths, 3 deli slices of peppered tofurky and of course, the apple. These potato chips were very good. I loved the flavor and the  heat that sort of sneaks up on you. It doesn't seem all that spicy when you first start munching, but as you eat, the heat sort of intensifies. These were not too hot for me, but if you don't like spicy, you won't like these.

This was an awesome snack. I enjoy the spice and saved the apple for last to cool things down. I hardly noticed the heat from the cheese or the pepper in the tofurky after eating the chips. I'm giving the chips 5 stars. These were even better than the Texas Pete chips.

As my dinner, I took a Totino's frozen pizza and added chopped fresh spinach, shredded Mexican cheese (what I had), garlic and rosemary.

No these are not like real pizza, but that doesn't mean they aren't good. They are just different.

I love adding extra topping to these. The sauce is rather plain so you can season them up any way you like. They are good with just about any topping and they're cheap.

Well that was about it for the day. I've laid around not really doing much of anything. My back is still giving me problem. I didn't sleep very well again last night so, I'll be indulging in an ibuprofen tonight. Have a great night/day!!!

Birthday Pizza Party

For breakfast yesterday, I made 3 minute oatmeal cookies. I put cranberries, dates, pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds in them, plus a tsp of maple syrup.

I had one of the cookies and saved the other for late. You can see the pumpkin seeds in this one.

I sort of missed the chance for lunch. We were going to Mom's for pizza around 3pm to celebrate Mom's birthday, early for dinner, late for lunch. I had half a gala apple to tide me over.

Luckily they had a fresh veggie tray to munch on until the pizza got there. I ate a little of each.

Mom had also fixed some macaroni salad.

There were 5 pizzas, 3 with meat, 2 without. They got buffalo chicken pizza....

....deluxe or supreme pizza

.....pepperoni pizza

....cheese pizza

and the Pacific Veggie pizza.

I had coffee with my pizza. I've had a headache for 4 days. I was hoping that would the coffee would help, it was half caf. I had a slice of the pacific veggie and half of a slice of the cheese. I haven't had just plain cheese in a while. It was pretty good.

For dessert there was chocolate birthday cake with chocolate icing. I was hoping it was chocolate. I was in the mood for chocolate.

There was also carrot cake. Carrot cake is one of my favorites, of course, I like lots of cakes.

There was birthday cake ice cream to go with the cakes.

I had a slice of each cake with a scoop of ice cream and a cup of coffee with my cake.

I over indulged, but the cakes were good.

I just had a few seedless grapes in a bowl when I got home. They were good. I haven't had grapes in a while.

I fooled around on the internet, checking email, etc., then I did my photos for the blog. I was too tired for reading. I guess I will have to try to get some reading done today, since I can't seem to get any done at night lately. Well, I off. Hopefully today will be productive. Have a great day!!!
