What Blog

Ok, so I totally forgot to finish this post this morning. I went to bed early last night, read some, and slept pretty good, so good that I forgot I had a blog. Well, as you can see you didn't miss much. I just had coffee, half an apple and some peanut butter cheerios for breakfast yesterday.

I had baked ravioli for lunch.

Lexi had a "sloppy wrap" plus a few of my raviolis, which she insisted I take a picture of.

I also had a few vanilla wafers, but not all of them.

For dinner I had a veggie dog on cheese toast with onion and barbecue sauce along with some sweet potato fries.

I had blackberry pomegranate green tea after dinner. It was very relaxing......so relaxing that I wanted to go to bed.

Sorry that I forgot about the post and that it's turned out to be such a quickie. Now I need to get to the one for today. Have a great night and if I don't finish today's post. I'll try to remember to finish it in the morning. Have a great night/day!!!

Superbowl Sunday

This morning there wasn't time to waste, since I've been sleeping in lately. I had planned to go to Mom's early and I had to eat breakfast and get ready to go. I had another fruit & yogurt cereal bowl with Cheerios, Bran flakes, Life cereal, vanilla yogurt, half a pink lady apple, cinnamon, peanut butter and light pancake syrup.

I've been thinking about this combo since the other day when I mentioned it. I wasn't disappointed. It is a yummy idea. This would probably also be good with waffle chunks instead of cereal under fruit and yogurt. I haven't had waffles for a while. Now that I've mentioned waffles, I'm thinking about my Jalapeno Popper Cornbread Waffles, yum!!!

After breakfast we got ready and left. We wanted to get there early to help with dinner. We were having hotdogs.....

  ....and hamburgers.

I was having a hotdog. I'd been craving one all week. I fixed my favorite, a Veggie Patch veggie dog.

Dale helped with the grilling and I worked on the chili with meat using Lynda's recipe.

We also had vegetarian chili from a can, no recipe required.

We had potato salad, which I was in the mood for also.

There was potato wedges and onion rings.

Macaroni & Cheese

Vegetarian Baked Beans

Coleslaw

Onion & Tomato for the burgers. I should have had a slice or two, but didn't think about it. I would have had to make a trade if I had. I ate way too much as it was.

I fixed my veggie dog in the microwave, put it on a bun and topped it with chili, mustard, onion, and slaw. I had a spoonful each of baked beans and potato salad. I was full after eating all this, but apparently I wasn't full enough.

We had cinnamon rolls for dessert.

....and being the glutton that I sometimes am, I had a cup of 1/2 caf coffee and a cinnamon roll, shortly after eating.

Everything was good and as proof, I was so completely miserable afterward, but as I was told, I wasn't the only one, so I think we were all in agreement.

We went home to watch the Super Bowl since we had things to do before tomorrow and it would be sort of late before the game would be over. I did not indulge in any super bowl snacks. Dale however, had room for Buffalo wings, and Lucas had the cinnamon roll he brought home. I think I must have a very slow digestion process. I am still full. I did have a cup of Lipton Blackberry Pomegranate Green Tea with honey. Dale watched the whole game and I watched the commercials. The only one that sticks out in my mind though, is one that I've seen on Swagbucks, it's the one for the Honda CRV with Matthew Broderick that mocks Ferris Bueller's Day Off. What's your favorite commercial?

Well I have an early day tomorrow, so I'm off to bed. Have a good night/day!!!

MorningStar Farms Spicy Black Bean Burger Review

I'm chilly this morning. It's a cool 50 degrees this morning and the heat is going. I should have had a warm breakfast this morning(more on that tomorrow). A breakfast like yesterday's would have been a little better. I had an English muffin with butter toasted, applesauce with cinnamon and ground flax, and a few dry roasted almonds, at least the toast was warm. I think I would have warmed the applesauce too, if it had been cool yesterday.

For lunch I had open faced sandwiches made with Nature's Own whole wheat sandwich rounds.

The whole wheat rounds are good, but I think I prefer the multi grain rounds, for no particular reason.

I lightly toasted the rounds for my sandwiches and topped them first with cheese and slices of Veggie Patch veggie dog (my favorite).

On top of the cheese & veggie dog, I put hot leftover chili beans, onion, and mustard.

To top all that off, I added some of my leftover coleslaw sprinkled with a little black pepper, even better the second day. It was a really good lunch.

My evening snack was just a bowl of maple & brown sugar mini wheat with milk, simple and delicious. I have been known to have the same thing, for dinner.

....but not yesterday. Yesterday's dinner was courtesy of Lucas. He made a hash brown casserole. It was more or less thrown together without a recipe, but it turned out so good we plan to make it into one. He used hash browns of course, Campbell's condensed cheese soup, milk, egg, and hot fire roasted salsa and topped it with shredded cheddar. It was a spicy dish, but it was very good.

Along with the casserole, I had a MorningStar Farms Spicy Black Bean burger. I've eaten these many times before, but I've never done a review on them. These are one of my favorite MSF burgers, of course there are only a couple of their burgers, that I don't like. The black bean burger also has roasted corn, tomatoes, brown rice, and chili peppers. I don't think these are all that spicy, but I like things pretty spicy. They are still very good. I like them plain or as a burger. MSF burgers are sort of salty, not too salty, but they don't need any extra. I usually heat mine in the microwave, but they do fine in a skillet or on the grill. I give the spicy black bean burger 4 stars.

I had mine plain yesterday, with the hash brown casserole and a salad of spring mix, spinach, onion, cucumber.

With the spicy casserole and burger, I decided to go with buttermilk ranch dressing for the salad. It was a great dinner.

After dinner I got everything done and was able to get to bed early. I even got some reading in before hand. Unfortunately I only slept for an hour or so and then was wide awake. I finally took a melatonin and was able to get back to sleep once it kicked in. I try to take them only as a last resort. That was my day. Happy Saturday!!

Going On A Food Binge

It's looking pretty dreary out this morning. I'm missing those sunny mornings we had at the beginning of summer. I'm also craving a great big cup of coffee. I manage to do without yesterday. It's very easy for me to fall back into the habit, especially with cooler weather coming back and my lack of sleep lately. Breakfast yesterday was half a cinnamon raisin bagel with peanut butter and half a gala apple.

I seemed to eat all day long yesterday. I kept reaching for food even though I wasn't really all that hungry. I did alright until after lunch. Once I had my baked beans, potato salad and two veggie patch veggie dogs, I just kept eating.

Even after eating all this, I just kept want something to nibble on.

I should have reached for my 5 gum, but it never crossed my mind, instead I grabbed a Russell Stover dark chocolate and raspberry cream chocolate.

Later before dinner, I had these chili lemon rounds from The Fresh Market. These have a hard crunchy texture, which for some reason, I liked. The chili lemon flavor just made me want more.

I had a bowl of soup for dinner. I think this stuff was better than it was the first day. It also looked more soupy than it did the last time I ate it.

After dinner I had some Breyer's Snickers ice cream with crushed dry roasted peanuts and then I finished off the chili lemon rounds. I didn't even bother to get on the scales this morning.
I will have to try to do better today. I'm really looking forward to Zumba. I wish I had a Saturday class as well, after Thursday's class, by Tuesday, I start to feel crappy. This morning is really hectic for some reason so, I am publishing this and getting the heck off here. Happy Tuesday!!!

A New Friend

It's Friday! ....with Thursday photos. It was a good day yesterday. I bought blueberries at Aldi. So my morning smoothie was not the usual Banana Pudding smoothie. It also wasn't a Chocolate Monkey smoothie and there wasn't any peanut butter involved. There was however a banana in there. Yes, it was my Blueberry Banana Smoothie and it was delicious.

All purple, speckled, cold and creamy. Yummy!

This is our new friend. He has slowly adopted us. At first staying in our crawl space and sometimes in Dales shop when the door was left open. He seem to want to be friendly, but would never get close, that is until we started giving him scraps. He would get closer and closer each time. Now waits at the front door and meows/hisses if you don't stop and pet or give him food. I'm not sure why he hisses. It's like his is fussing at you. The whole time walking beside our feet, then stopping to look up every couple of steps. He now knows, "Here kitty, kitty".

He was very hard to get a picture of. Every time I would squat down he would try to get on my lap.

Yesterday was the last day for leftovers. I use to have a three day rule, but since I despise wasting food, I have stretched it to four. There are some leftovers that don't get stretched. It just depends on how they look.

I had leftover potatoes for lunch and a nice fresh salad on the side. The potatoes were just plain with a little butter, salt and pepper.

The salad was iceberg lettuce, spinach, yellow pepper, white cucumber, and a tiny little Roma from the garden.

There was also a last minute addition of shredded Mexican blend cheese & imitation bacon bits, then drizzled with light ranch dressing.

A little while later, I had the last piece of birthday cake with vanilla ice cream and dry roasted peanuts. The cake and ice cream still just seemed to need something. I wasn't sure what, but decided to add a few nuts. It was so much better with the nuts, just what it needed.

Thursday was Zumba day. We had another great workout, dancing with weights. The first 2 songs we did without weighs, I guess as a warm up. I was worried on Tuesday that having used 3lb. weights, that I might regret it by morning, but I wasn't the least bit sore, so I used the 3lb. weights again yesterday. We finished up without using weights for the last couple of songs, a nice cool down and stretch. I did sweat more yesterday than on Tuesday, my hair was soaked and I had to keep wiping the sweat out of my eyes. It was great. No soreness this morning either, but I do think I will stick with 3's, that is quite enough for now.

For dinner I had a chili cheese dog made with a veggie patch veggie dog, a slice of American cheese, mustard, & vegetarian chili with beans. The mustard doesn't seem to go too well with this chili. I normally use mustard with homemade chili, which goes well with it, but I'm thinking I should lose the mustard when using canned.

I also had onion rings, baked in the oven, the ones with the whole onion, which I prefer. Lucas still like the minced version better. He has just recently started eating onion and hasn't graduated to the whole version yet. Onion rings are one of the few things I eat ketchup with. I am normally not a fan of ketchup, but I started out eating onion rings with ketchup and mostly that's how I eat them.

BTW, I registered for an account with WordPress and I'm seriously thinking of switching to WordPress. Right now I am just playing around with it, to see if I like it. I will keep you updated and possible post a link to it soon, just so you can check it out and possibly tell me what you think. I suppose that's it for today. Happy Friday everyone! Enjoy your day.
