How Sweet It Is

Looks like it's rained a little during the night. It's dark and overcast this morning. I've had to turn on the lights in the living room to see my laptop. I am hoping it clears off and is cool enough for a walk.

Yesterday I had a slice of apple cake from the freezer and a few slices of gala apple. I'm down to my last 2 and they are really pitiful looking, I even peeled them, which I don't normally do.

I thawed the cake and the apples where pretty good. I just sprinkled a little cinnamon over them.

After breakfast I was still not as energetic as I needed to be. I had 2 little tea bags of Mandarin Orange Green Tea steeped in a full cup of boiling hot water along with a couple of spoonfuls of honey.

For lunch I had a quesadilla with refried beans, taco seasoning, corn, sliced cheese, & mozzarella cheese along with some taco sauce.

I was out of cheddar cheese, so I had to improvise. I wasn't sure it would be so great, but it was very good, yummy even, almost as good as my spinach quesadilla.

We went back to Mom's to try and get their a/c working, but wound up installing a window unit until they get a new system installed. Mom fixed a quick dinner. I had salad with iceberg, red & yellow tomato and light buttermilk ranch. I also had kidney beans, Mexican rice and a veggie egg roll.

Lynda made a peach cobbler with fresh peaches. I got mine while it was still bubbly hot and topped it with vanilla ice cream. Yum!

After we got some curtains put up to separate the living room with the a/c from the other rooms. We installed window screens, so that they could open the windows and let in some fresh air. Luckily it had cooled off quite a bit outside, so once the cool air was drawn in, it should be cooler at least. Hopefully the week will past quickly for them. The nights are suppose to be pretty cool in the 60's and the days will be below 90, which isn't that good, but better than they have been lately.

I was able to get my photos uploaded and get in bed before 11pm. I even got in a little reading before bed. I didn't do too well at avoiding the carbs, but I did mostly stay on schedule and was able to get to bed early. How sweet is that? Happy Saturday!

Great Day For Grillin'

The sun is out this morning and we're getting the heat of summer back after a few welcomed days in the 70's. Already at 72 it's going to be hot one with a predicted high of 90. I sleep so much better when it's cooler.

It was a hot day yesterday as well. It started out pretty much the same as today, except I felt a lot hungrier than today. I could have used a snack while of was writing up yesterday's post. If only I could get to bed earlier and get up early enough to eat before working on the blog. I had a hard time getting to sleep last night. My body keeps trying to go back to old habits of staying up all night and sleeping the day away.

For breakfast yesterday I had a Chocolate Monkey Smoothie, again I left out the peanut butter, trying to fight off any extra pounds. I'm not doing very well at it.

We had dinner at Mom's as usual. A lot of the food was prepared on the grills (3 of them) to keep from heating up the house since if was going to be a scorcher. It was a great day for grillin' and it worked out nicely. They fixed pork chops on one.

The turkey roast and chicken were done in the crockpot.

Baked potatoes hot off grill #2....
...with broccoli...

...and cheese sauce that was also in a crock for the potatoes.

Bow Tie Pasta Salad, like little plates to hold the cheese & veggies.

Corn on the cob off grill #3

Green beans and pintos

Marinated Veggies

Sliced tomato

7? Layer Salad

Angel Biscuits

This is what I piled on my plate, corn, baked potato w/ broccoli & cheese, green beans, layered salad, a slice of tomato and a biscuit. I managed to eat most of it. My favorite part was the baked potato. I haven't had one in a while.

For dessert there was "The Bomb" as we call it or Coffee Brownie Trifle. Yum, gotta love trifles.

I think this one is super fattening, so I had some for dessert, but didn't bring home leftovers. I also had 2 cups of coffee, not sure it was decaf after last night.

The girls had a great time in the pool shaded by the umbrella. Just give Mary a garden hose and she's happy. Lexi was back and forth between the pool and the sand box.

Dinner was called on account that I just didn't feel like fooling with it. I had some Doritos and dip....

...and an apple.
I felt better about the apple, but I was just feeling tired, but not sleepy. I fooled around too long on the computer and stayed up way too late. Now I'll pay for it today. The end! Happy Monday!

Junk Food Junkie

I'm still stuck on post titles. I hope I get better at it. I'm up, but that's it. I pretty much feel the same as yesterday. By the time I finished yesterday's post, I was so hungry, I couldn't wait on a smoothie. The junk food junkie in me had kicked in. I was on a mission alright, to eat as much junk as possible. I had a piece of pineapple jello poke cake with cool whip topping and fresh pineapples. My excuse -  I was starving and the cake & pineapples would be throw out otherwise.

This is my new to me swing that DH got me at an auction. Not bad for $25. I paid $40 for a nice used wooden swing. I've looked everywhere for a metal one. I've seen them everywhere, but not for sale and the ones that are, are usually more like $200-$300. This one is a little smaller, but still sits 2 people comfortably. It painted black in good condition. I plan to paint it green to match the frame and put on new chains. It's actually a little fancier than the one I wanted, which is great. It has ivy leaves at the top. It doesn't hold water and doesn't need cushions. Now if I only had a covered porch to put it on.

For lunch I hat the rest of my California salad from O' Charley's. Good, but now a good as fresh. the pecans and sort of lost their toasty crunch. I will have to make my Strawberry Mandarin Spinach Salad w/ pecans instead of almonds or cashews. That would make it even more awesome. This was the healthiest thing I ate all day.

Even as a leftover it was way better than it looks.

The salad didn't make me miserably full satisfy me, so I had half a sweet onion and poppy seed bagel with cream cheese. The SO&P may be better than the everything. The onion & poppyseed  is baked throughout the bagel and the everythings are just plain with bagel with everything topping.

Later I had a peanut butter pretzel snack. Makin' sure I get plenty of carbs. I was very sleepy all day. I'm not sure if I was eating carbs because I was sleepy or sleepy because I was eating carbs.

Obviously I was still missing my banana pudding smoothie, so I had the rest of my banana pudding blizzard instead. I probably could have had a whole smoothie for around the same or less calories.

Dinner was Amy's Cheese Pizza sprinkled with basil and garlic along with a bowl of Panera's tomato soup. This one said tomato bisque and was in a smaller container. I'm not sure the soup is different though, maybe they just changed the name or something. It did seem to have more little piece of tomato and was lighter red, but it mostly tasted the same.

The pizza was very good. I ate half and Lucas ate the other half. It went great with the soup. I had thought about having grilled cheese, but figured this would be even better.
I had a late dinner, which threw off the rest of the evening. I was later getting to bed and didn't want to get up. I've started hitting the snooze button. I'm either going to have to set my alarm earlier or stop hitting the snooze button. I'm also going to have to figure out a way to get to bed earlier. Seven hours is not enough when you don't sleep well. How many hours sleep do you get? Is it enough?

Now, I'm going to get my smoothie on, ha, ha!!
Comments welcome especially blogging tips.

Pizza & Margaritas

Well, I over slept about an hour this morning, so this is a rush post sorry.

My breakfast yesterday was a peanut butter banana smoothie. Basically the banana pudding smoothie minus the wafers and with the addition of about a tablespoon of peanut butter. The one I had before Zumba the day before was so good, I decided to have another.

I have leftover brown rice w/ spinach and tomatoes for lunch, along with another Gardein Chick'n Scallopini and some sliced cucumber. I seasoned the Scallopini with Cajun Injector's Quick Shake Hickory Grill Seasoning and paprika, this time. It tastes about the same as the off brand BBQ seasoning I have, but less salty, my reason for using it.

I put a little light ranch over my cucumbers. It was part of the packet from Salsaritas. They have pretty good ranch.

I had some trail mix + a few dried cranberries & butterscotch chips for a snack. It didn't really need the butterscotch chips.

We went to Mom & Lynda's yesterday evening, so Dale could work on the bathroom they are remodeling. Hopefully it won't be much longer. I know they are ready for it to be finished.

We had pizza for dinner. They got a large pepperoni and I had a little personal pan cheese. I can't believe Pizza Hut doesn't offer a small anymore, of course, all their pizzas are smaller than they used to be or it seems like it anyway. It was good just to pricey for the size.

Mom & Lynda were having margaritas (the leaded version). Lucas and I had our unleaded or virgin. I had 2 a regular and a mango. The mango was better, the salt a bit much, but as long as you drink from the same spot, you're good.
Ok, so that's my story and I'm stickin' to it, lol. Now to get this baby going, so it makes email. I'll see y'all again tomorrow. Same bat time, same bat channel. Have a great day!!

I Need To Do Better

Yesterday was Zumba day and the beginning of my new routine. The morning went smoothly, but it didn't start early enough apparently, since my email subscribers got a little messed up. Sorry. I was afraid of that, because I'm not exactly sure when the delivery goes out. It was suppose to be between 7-9, but it was nearly 9 before I got it posted, so it missed it's chance, I guess. I delayed the delivery a little more and set my alarm a little earlier. It was a little more difficult this morning since I was getting up around the time, which I usually sleep the best. I am in slow motion this morning....but, I'm up.

I had a banana smoothie for breakfast. I am missing my vanilla wafers. My morning smoothie didn't taste right yesterday, so I added a little maple syrup for some reason, which made it worse. I think it was because I woke up with what I call an "allergy hangover". That's when I forget my allergy meds and it doesn't really hit me until the next day. I get a terrible headache and my nose gets stuffy, my eyes itch a lot, & breakfast doesn't taste good, not mention I've misplace my eye drops, so it feels like I've got sand in my eyes. I'll be sofa diving today.

I was still hungover at lunch time. I was lazy and only had half an everything bagel from Panera with cream cheese and cucumber. It was very good though.

Then I had the other half of the frozen Cookie N Creme donut from Krispy Kreme, which was a mistake. Way too many carbs. I've gained everything I lost this morning + another pound. Ugghhh!

On top of that I had another banana smoothie, but with peanut butter as my pre-Zumba snack. It was super yummy. I added about a tablespoon of PB + 1 tsp. of honey. (More carbs)
Zumba was hot. We had a big storm before I went which cooled everything off outside, but I was still sweaty after Zumba. I had the a/c on in the car. When I got out my glasses were fogged up. I couldn't see a thing and they didn't clear up, so I had to take them off.

I had dinner partially fixed when I got home. I made brown rice with spinach, tomatoes, & garlic (a new fave) and I heated a Gardein Chick'n Scallopini seasoned with barbecue seasoning & paprika (another new fave) to go with it.

The rice, way better than the frozen stuff you buy and the Scallopini yummy.
I enjoyed everything I ate, until I stepped on the scales this morning. I also didn't drink enough water yesterday. I never lose when I don't drink my water.

Also the Function Water I got from FL is a no go unless they make a larger bottle. It left me hangin' towards the end of Zumba and I was running back and forth to the water fountain after that. I need the full 33 oz. bottles for Zumba.

Ok, that's it for today. I'm going to fix breakfast. Looking at all this food is killing me. Have a great day!
