Savoritz Roasted Vegetable Crackers Review

This morning I really wanted pancakes or rather, that's what I'd planned to have, but by the time I went though my morning routine, I was totally out of the mood, so I just had half an apple and a few Quaker Oat Squares with my half caf coffee; 2 cups actually. I also spread a little peanut butter on my apple for protein.

I had a quick bowl of leftover baked ravioli for lunch, before going to the grocery store.

It was a long trip, because we were going to Aldi first, then to the bread store and Walmart. I picked up a box of Savoritz Roasted Vegetable crackers at Aldi.

Their sort of a knock off of Ritz crackers. I had a few with cream cheese before dinner. They have a mild vegetable taste, but I wasn't all that impressed. I've had better vegetable cracker and I'm not sure they're exactly like Ritz either. There is a difference, but I'm not sure what it is. I will say that they weren't a oily as some Ritz type crackers I've eaten. While there was nothing spectacular about these crackers, they aren't bad, but I do prefer the larger vegetable crackers we've gotten at Walmart. I'm just giving these 3 stars.

I also bought some fresh spinach today. Everything else I had for dinner, I already had. I had a Veggie Patch Chick'n Cutlet from the freezer, sweet potato fries and a simple salad of spinach and onion with a dressing made from light mayo and barbecue sauce. I'd bought pizza dough from Walmart, which Lucas had told me about, to make pizza, but didn't realize it came frozen. I got it anyway, but will have to wait another day or so to make it.

It was a pretty good dinner, even though I sort of got more BBQ sauce in the dressing than I'd intended. It made a great dressing and since I'd made more than I'd meant to, I used some on the cutlet as well.

I had a cup of Ghirardelli Peppermint Cocoa after dinner. I always make mine with more milk/less cocoa than the directions call for. It is still plenty sweet and very good.

I also had some raisins and a few BBQ chips while I was working on this post. Now that I've got everything covered, I'm going to get ready for bed and maybe do a little reading. I'd decided to go ahead and finish this post tonight, so that I could sleep in tomorrow, besides if I didn't, I might forget to finish it, lol. Have a great night/day!!!

What Blog

Ok, so I totally forgot to finish this post this morning. I went to bed early last night, read some, and slept pretty good, so good that I forgot I had a blog. Well, as you can see you didn't miss much. I just had coffee, half an apple and some peanut butter cheerios for breakfast yesterday.

I had baked ravioli for lunch.

Lexi had a "sloppy wrap" plus a few of my raviolis, which she insisted I take a picture of.

I also had a few vanilla wafers, but not all of them.

For dinner I had a veggie dog on cheese toast with onion and barbecue sauce along with some sweet potato fries.

I had blackberry pomegranate green tea after dinner. It was very relaxing......so relaxing that I wanted to go to bed.

Sorry that I forgot about the post and that it's turned out to be such a quickie. Now I need to get to the one for today. Have a great night and if I don't finish today's post. I'll try to remember to finish it in the morning. Have a great night/day!!!

Cinnamon Roll Breakfast Makeover

I was feeling better this morning after having gotten more sleep than the night before. I felt more like getting creative with breakfast. There was one small cinnamon roll left this morning. It was a little dried out after spending the night alone, but still good. I decided to make it better. I started by crumbling the cinnamon roll in a bowl.

I cut up an apple, put it in a microwavable bowl with a little butter, a tsp. of brown sugar, a little cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. I cooked the apple for 3 or 4 minutes, then I spooned the hot apple chunks over the cinnamon roll.

I also had a little vanilla yogurt left in the frig, which I spooned over the cinnamon roll and hot apples, then I sprinkled it with a little cinnamon/sugar mixture. It was a very yummy way to eat a cinnamon roll.

I skipped coffee today. I guess I was rested enough that I didn't really need it. I did sort of develop a slight headache today, but it went away without taking anything for it, so I'm not sure if that was a caffeine withdrawal thing or not. When lunch time rolled around, I decided to have another Veggie Patch chick'n cutlet pita with shredded lettuce, pepper strips, and light ranch dressing. I had a few leftover green bean with some added mushroom slices & onion, which I cooked in the microwave. I also had a few dill pickle slices on the side. This combo seemed so much more filling than the one I had yesterday with tortilla chips. I'm not sure why, but it was really good.

I made veggie dog cornbread in my GT Express. I made regular cornbread batter and poked little slices of veggie dog into it. It's wasn't the greatest concoction. It took a little while to cook, longer than I'd expected and it was very dry by itself. I didn't really bother to make anything to go with it, some chili or soup would have moistened it a bit.  I used a lot of mustard and drank a lot of water and I still kept getting choked on the cornbread crumbs. I should have put more thought into dinner. I actually waited too long to start dinner and I was trying to throw something together before my Thursday evening shows came on.

While choking down my dinner, I watched Person of Interest and The Mentalist. What do you watch on Thursdays. I also finally got my ebook loaded onto my Kindle. I'm not sure what the problem was. It may have been that it was charging and wasn't connected to the internet properly. I also had trouble charging the Kindle by hooking it via usb cable to the computer. I finally plugged it into an outlet this morning with Lucas' adapter and my book (The Help), magically  appeared this afternoon. That was my day. Now I'm off to get ready for bed. Have great night/day!!!

Another Delay

I really can't believe my luck. Just as I get the blog caught up, my internet goes down again. We lost the connection about 2 pm on Saturday. We checked everything on our end and waited for the internet to come back up. After about 3 hours we finally  assumed they weren't just working on it somewhere. I called and sure enough their was a major problem and they'd have to send someone out to check the lines.

My Saturday breakfast was a smoothie. I was feeling sort of tired of the same fruit & yogurt cereal bowl. I made the smoothie using dried blueberries, a bit of banana and half of the small apple I'd gotten from Panera's with lunch the other day.  I used the last of my oatmeal, about 1/8 cup plus about the same amount of bran flakes which I ran through the coffee grinder to make a powder. I also added a tsp of instant vanilla pudding mix along with my usual amounts of milk, ice, & vanilla yogurt. It was a pretty good smoothie. It was a little sweet, but no worse than what you'd buy pre-made. Using unsweetened yogurt or maybe Chobani's vanilla would be good for a less sweet version.

I made another tofurky sandwich with the garlic herb focaccia bread. This time I used leftover spaghetti sauce and shredded spinach.

It was an awesome sandwich.

I'm hoping there's still a piece of the focaccia left for another one, but I'm sort of doubting it. It was really good bread.

It was after lunch when I realized that the internet was down. I decided to have a cup of tea and get some reading done.  I had another cup of the mangosteen and peach green tea with honey.

I read a couple of chapters and still no internet. I had some popcorn, Lance's Movie Theater Butter  flavored.

It was pretty good, but it's not movie theater good.  It's pretty buttery tasting, but it's just not the same as the kind you get at the movies. I'd still give it 4 stars.

Realizing by now that there would be no internet any time soon, I fixed dinner. I cut up a Veggie Patch Chick'n Cutlet and divided it between two pita pockets which I'd filled with iceberg salad from a bag, chopped pepper and onion. I topped my pockets with shredded Mexican blend cheese and spicy ranch.  I did have a little accident with the salad dressing. I took the lid off of the bottle and started to squeeze out the dressing, realizing too late that there was no squeeze top. I had quite a bit of dressing, which I sloppily divided between the two pitas. I'm thinking next time, I will just put my salad in the bowl and have my pita on the side. Even without the dressing incident, I'm not sure this was the best way to eat my cutlet.

I had a cup of lemon chobani for dessert. I still say this is one of my favorite flavors and Chobani's lemon is the best.
I manage to get quite a bit of reading done yesterday. I did get to bed earlier, but not all that early. I'm not sure if I'll be keeping the girls tomorrow or not. My back is still bothering me. It's actually been pretty bad today, not sure why. I did mop a little yesterday, but I'm not sure that's what did it. I'm planning to hit the sack now and I'll try and get Sunday's post up tomorrow. I hope everyone will bear with me. The blog seems to be suffering since I've gotten behind. I hope to get everything back to normal soon, hopefully even better would be good, but I'm thinking it may take a little longer. Have a great night/day!!!

Two Days In One

I've decided to get this mess caught up and out of the way in one fell swoop. Because I am behind, I am suffering and the blog is suffering. I'm not sure yet how this will turn out, but it will be done and I will feel much better.

Breakfast will be the easiest of course, because I ate the same thing basically on both mornings. I had a fruit and yogurt cereal bowl, with dried wild blueberries, which I'd gotten on sale half price. I also used half a pink lady apple, Dannon vanilla yogurt, cheerios, bran flakes, and life cereal. On Friday, I also threw in a few frosted mini wheats.

On Thursday, I went with Mom and Lynda for a GDO. We went to Fresh Market, Panera's Goodwill, The Restore, and Walmart, not necessarily in that order. We got a few goodies from Fresh Market and tried a couple of samples. My first sample was their chocolate cherry coffee. Normally I'm not big on flavored coffee, but occasionally I find one I like. This was one that I liked.

I added a little raw sugar and cream to mine. I even managed to get just the right amount of sugar, but just a little too much cream. It still tasted very good. I'm giving it 4 stars (no star photo this time).
My second sample was their edamame salad, which I didn't care for and forgot to get a photo of. It had cranberries and what tasted like rosemary along with the edamame, which didn't appeal to me.

We went to Panera's for lunch, Mom & Lynda also got bagels. I had the same thing I had last time. You just can't beat their Mediterranean Veggie on tomato basil bread and the creamy tomato soup. It was sort of cool and rainy, a perfect day for soup. I also got an apple with it to eat later and a bottled water.

Once I got home I did some sampling of my goodies I'd gotten. I had a bit of the Men's Omega 3 Energy Mix while I fixed a bite to eat. For dinner I had the Smart Ones Pasta with Ricotta and Spinach, which I wasn't sure about. The photo didn't look all that great to me.

The dinner prepared actually looked better to me than the photo, unusual right? I also had a piece of the garlic herb focaccia I'd gotten at TFM, with a couple of sliced marinated mozzarella balls, also from TFM. The Focaccia was delicious, but we weren't impressed with the mozzarella. I was expecting the marinade to taste like more than just olive oil and Italian seasoning. You know mozzarella is a sort of a flavorless cheese compared to other cheeses, even marinated apparently. The pasta with ricotta and spinach needed a pinch of salt, but was not bad. The sauce sort of reminds me of gravy. I'm giving it 3 stars.

I had one of the Russell Stover coconut cream eggs that Lynda gave me, after dinner and threw the other one into the freezer for safe keeping.
 Now on to Friday.

You already know what I had for breakfast, so it's on to the next thing, which was a cup of green tea, the White Mangosteen and Peach flavor with a dab of honey, two bags.

Next was lunch. I had a tofurky sandwich with more of the mozzarella on the focaccia bread.

The tofurky was their Italian Deli flavor with sundried tomato and basil. Unfortunately it wasn't as good as I had expected it to be. It wasn't bad, but it just didn't have the flavor I was expecting. It was sort of like they'd added a little sundried tomato to the peppered version. The pepper in it was over powering and you could hardly taste the tomato or basil.

I cut a piece of the focaccia bread in half and put on 4 slices of the tofurky. I grated a few of the marinated mozzarella balls over the tofurky after wiping them across the top piece of bread to leave the seasoning and drizzled on a little olive oil. I also sprinkle on some marjoram. I then popped the whole thing in the toaster oven on bake to melt the cheese, toast the bread a little and ultimately heat the whole sandwich.

Although I wasn't impressed with the marinated mozzarella or the tofurky on their own, together on the garlic herb focaccia, they were awesome. I would have thought I'd died and gone to heaven if there had been marinara and spinach involved.

I later had a bowl of Peanut Butter Multi Grain Cheerios.

We think the Banana Nut flavor is better. I'm not sure if it was the milk or the peanut butter, but after eating it, I developed the worse case of indigestion. I thought I'd die.

After eating lots of antacid, I was still battling my indigestion at dinner time. I had planned to try my new Veggie Patch Chick'n Cutlets.

My indigestion was slowly subsiding, which made it hard for me to have a good appetite. I made whole wheat pasta with some plain old Ragu spaghetti sauce to go with the cutlet. I'd planned to do something a bit more elaborate, but I just wasn't feeling up to it.

I put the cutlet on top of the pasta, added a little more sauce and grated some of the mozzarella balls on top. I was really impressed with the cutlet. It was one of the best fake chicken patties, I've ever eaten. I like that they are thin and larger than most veggie patties. The breading has that strange chicken patty color, but it was really pretty good. I'm not so crazy about the way the cheese looked, but it's one way to use it up. I can't wait to try the cutlet in some other ways. I'm giving it 5 stars.

Well, that's it for Thursday & Friday. I'm caught up. No late posts hanging over my head. Now if I can just keep it that way. I didn't get everything I wanted included, but it's done. If there's any questions, just leave a comment, love those. Have a great day and don't forget to subscribe and/or follow me on Twitter. Thanks.

Superbowl Sunday

This morning there wasn't time to waste, since I've been sleeping in lately. I had planned to go to Mom's early and I had to eat breakfast and get ready to go. I had another fruit & yogurt cereal bowl with Cheerios, Bran flakes, Life cereal, vanilla yogurt, half a pink lady apple, cinnamon, peanut butter and light pancake syrup.

I've been thinking about this combo since the other day when I mentioned it. I wasn't disappointed. It is a yummy idea. This would probably also be good with waffle chunks instead of cereal under fruit and yogurt. I haven't had waffles for a while. Now that I've mentioned waffles, I'm thinking about my Jalapeno Popper Cornbread Waffles, yum!!!

After breakfast we got ready and left. We wanted to get there early to help with dinner. We were having hotdogs.....

  ....and hamburgers.

I was having a hotdog. I'd been craving one all week. I fixed my favorite, a Veggie Patch veggie dog.

Dale helped with the grilling and I worked on the chili with meat using Lynda's recipe.

We also had vegetarian chili from a can, no recipe required.

We had potato salad, which I was in the mood for also.

There was potato wedges and onion rings.

Macaroni & Cheese

Vegetarian Baked Beans

Coleslaw

Onion & Tomato for the burgers. I should have had a slice or two, but didn't think about it. I would have had to make a trade if I had. I ate way too much as it was.

I fixed my veggie dog in the microwave, put it on a bun and topped it with chili, mustard, onion, and slaw. I had a spoonful each of baked beans and potato salad. I was full after eating all this, but apparently I wasn't full enough.

We had cinnamon rolls for dessert.

....and being the glutton that I sometimes am, I had a cup of 1/2 caf coffee and a cinnamon roll, shortly after eating.

Everything was good and as proof, I was so completely miserable afterward, but as I was told, I wasn't the only one, so I think we were all in agreement.

We went home to watch the Super Bowl since we had things to do before tomorrow and it would be sort of late before the game would be over. I did not indulge in any super bowl snacks. Dale however, had room for Buffalo wings, and Lucas had the cinnamon roll he brought home. I think I must have a very slow digestion process. I am still full. I did have a cup of Lipton Blackberry Pomegranate Green Tea with honey. Dale watched the whole game and I watched the commercials. The only one that sticks out in my mind though, is one that I've seen on Swagbucks, it's the one for the Honda CRV with Matthew Broderick that mocks Ferris Bueller's Day Off. What's your favorite commercial?

Well I have an early day tomorrow, so I'm off to bed. Have a good night/day!!!
