Cool Pix

Well, I guess the cat's out of the bag, at least for a few people. I'd planned to tell everyone about my anniversary present today with a sort of presentation, but someone unknowingly spilled the beans, my fault. DH gave me my present yesterday, so that I'd have it ready to use today. I got a new Nikon CoolPix S6100. I have really been wanting a new camera and I've done a good job of letting everyone know apparently. Now I will have two in case I happen to leave one behind somewhere. Hopefully I won't do that though.

The price you may pay for buying me a present....your picture on my blog, lol. Beware!!!

When I got the camera, I thought it was my Christmas present, but since then, I've learned that I will be getting something else for Christmas, but no idea what. We'll see. The camera is totally fitting for my anniversary since we are celebrating our 25th and the camera is silver.
I was totally impressed with todays photos, the biggest reason being that I didn't have to edit any of them, other than maybe cropping. My other camera would tend to make the photos look a little yellow due to my terrible lighting, so I would have to edit them to take out the yellow or brighten them up (I hate using the flash). I hope you can tell the difference as well.

One of my first pictures was of breakfast. I had frozen French toast sticks which I toasted up, along with a cup of applesauce with added cinnamon. I think the pictures got better as the day went on, as I was getting more use to the camera. I still haven't gotten much figured out.

After breakfast we went to finish up our Christmas shopping, which went quite well and then we stop off for groceries on the way home. I found what I was looking for in no time and the stores weren't too terribly crowded.

When I got home I had a Veggie Patch veggie dog with sliced cheese and emergency BBQ sauce (ketchup, mustard, brown sugar, & hickory grill seasoning + a pinch of salt). I thought I had a bottle in the frig, but was disappointed to find I didn't.

I also had my leftover Alexia Sauted Reds on the side.

After lunch Lindsay brought the girls over to stay while she finished up her last minute shopping. I got a few shots of the girls. This was another point that impressed me about my new camera. I was actually able to get some pretty good shots of the girls, considering how fast they move, not to mention the fact that I don't do people pictures well.

This is Mary showing off her new camera (her Mom's old one).

Lexi playing with a new wooden block set I'd gotten for them to play with.

I had a cup of much needed half caf. coffee while the girls were here.

Here's another shot that impressed me. My other camera took such yellowed photos of this placemat that I couldn't completely edit it out. The red would tend to look sort of orange. I had my vegetarian version of chili cheese fries, with canned chili beans, seasoned fries, onion and a cheese sauce made from milk and sliced cheese, sprinkled with paprika.

This was so much better than it looks.

I think the crinkle fries would have been even better because they are bigger and maybe some queso cheese dip or nacho cheese.

It was a really good day. I've enjoyed taking pictures with my new camera. The girls were very good and I managed to get my presents all wrapped and under the tree. Now I'm off to bed and I will be sleeping in, in the morning, ....hopefully. Have a great night/day!!! Merry Christmas everyone!!!!

  2. Thanks. I'm hoping I can take better photos with the new camera. I may be a lost cause though.
